Horses are my legacy. I come from a long lineage of horsewomen. Passed down from great grandmother, to grandmother, to mother, to me, taught to inhale the earthy aroma of horse, sweet hay, and barn. Although my ancestors had horses in their lives as a necessity for work and transportation, they were more than just an essential requirement. Horses were part of their spirit and soul and were treated with a devotion that was woven into the lives of these women.

We all possess tokens and mementos that transport us back to our fondest memories. Often these items trigger a creative spark and inspire us. For me, worn and dusty saddles, colorful bridle rosettes, faded family photographs of long ago horses, oiled and timeworn harness pieces, strands of old sleigh bells, are all things that adorn my walls, surrounding me, adding inspiration and evolution to many of my paintings.
